James Green Ready for Showdown

James Green will be competing for the first time under the Southeast Regional Training Center banner this Sunday, November 1 when he takes on Hawkeye Wrestling Club’s Alex Marinelli! Green will be taking the mat for his first competition since the Matteo Pellicone which was held in Rome, Italy this past January and only his second at his new weight class of 74Kg. A mainstay at 70Kg for the US, Green is looking to make the same impact at 74Kg with aspirations to represent the US at the 2021 Tokyo Olympic Games.

Green sat down with TrackWrestling last week and talked about the upcoming match as well as the culture of wrestling we’ve built in Blacksburg. Watch the full interview here. https://www.trackwrestling.com/PortalPlayer.jsp?TIM=1603982819920&twSessionId=ufkcetcgsz&videoId=870901135

2012 Olympian, Hokies Wrestling Associate Head Coach, and SERTC Assistant Coach, Jared Frayer, recently sat down to talk with TrackWrestling about Green’s preparation and the impact he’s been making on the young Hokies already. Since becoming part of the SERTC family, Green’s impact has been nothing short of invaluable – his work ethic on the mat as well as his lifestyle off the mat. Brining years of experience and knowledge along with a wealth of mat savviness every time he steps onto the mat, expect fireworks from the two-time World Medalist and five-time US World Team member this Sunday!

The event will be streaming exclusively on TrackWrestling. Undercard begins at 5PM EST with the Main Card starting at 7PM EST. Green will be the the seventh match on the Main Card. If you can’t catch the action, be sure to tune into our Twitter for live action updates! Go SERTC, Go HOKIES!
